Black Voices in Gaming put indie creators on the summer stage

The June showcase offers a starting point for discovering studios, original mechanics and emerging talent.

Black Voices in Gaming returned for a 2026 summer showcase on June 2, with trailers, gameplay, interviews and developer features from Black creators and teams around the world.

Showcases matter because discovery is one of the hardest parts of independent development. Shipping a game does not automatically put it in front of an audience, especially when a studio lacks the marketing budget of a major publisher.

For people interested in making games, watching a showcase can be research. What is the game's hook? How quickly does the trailer communicate its mechanics? What visual or narrative detail makes the project memorable? How does the team explain why it exists?

HBCU.news will follow these creators beyond announcement day, with attention to the process of getting games finished, funded, released and sustained.
